Working Through It.

Woohoo! I lost 2.6 lbs. last week!!! I was stuck at the same weight for about three months. Now I know why ...

Coincidence? I stopped taking two of my medications about two weeks ago. One was Atenolol for my Tachycardia and the other one was Omeprazole for GERD (heart burn). I'm old. Atenolol slows my heart rate down and it makes me really tired. I have a hard time getting my heart rate up high enough to burn fat whenever I'm on Atenolol. Maybe the pills are making it difficult for me to lose weight? I plan on visiting my doctor and discussing my medications with him soon. What made me stop taking my meds? I'll have to disclose that in another blog post. *wink* *wink*
I only managed to exercise for four days last week which I'm really bummed out about. I was hoping to squeeze in five days at the gym, but I'm not stressing out over it. Better than nothing right?

It's Tuesday and I haven't gone to the gym since Friday. I've been lazy. I plan on going to my swim class tomorrow morning at 5am. Early morning wake up calls are SO HARD, but I need to keep my health on track. I've managed to stay healthy for two weeks without taking my medication. I don't plan on changing that! I'm also really excited about my new flippers! My swim teacher recommended them to me. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. I'm not the fastest one in class. LOL. Maybe it's a hint...I'm pretty sure it's a hint...
I really want make sure that I don't miss anymore workouts this week. I've been REALLY tired lately and lets just say that Aunt Flo hasn't been good to me either. I feel drained. NO PUN INTENDED. It's making me lazy. TMI? The joys of being a girl.

Either way, there's no excuse. I need to work through it. Even if it means exercising at home. That's what Pinterest is for. Trying to convince myself to stick with my "No Excuses" motto. Have a great week! If I can do it, you can do it too!! Let's do this!!! We still have the rest of the week to get fit!

Girls, how do you handle Aunt Flo on days that you exercise? Do you stay home or do you work through it?

  1. Hey Liz! How have your flippers been working out for you? I keep considering getting some for swimming, but so far I'm just wearing goggles and a waterproof watch to time myself when I go lap swimming.

You're right that wake up calls are pretty darn hard, but whatever it is that makes you take massive action can't be that bad. :) However, as you continue your journey to health, you should keep in mind that weight loss isn't just about what we we eat or what exercise we do—it's also about why we do or don't do the things we know we should do to become better. It's a way of filling our different human needs.

I'd encourage you to take a look at this video in my link of Beverly, who lost 230 lbs. without any surgery or weight loss "magic bullets" aside from diet and exercise. In it, our different human needs are explained along with ways to become healthier. It's not that long, and you might find it to be pretty interesting.
