My Second Painting Using Rounded Form!!

We practiced using "rounded form" by using charcoal on a large painting pad. The teacher had a big round foam ball with light over it and wanted us imitate this by drawing all the shadows and curves around the ball....

And here is my handsome model Jeremy holding my painting for me.....

I couldn't find ANYTHING that I was interested in drawing so my teacher helped me pick this painting out. Not really my style, but it had all the characteristics that she wanted for this painting...it's a painting of a sculpture by MAILLOL and it's called "PENSEE."

It took me a while to finally get a feel for this sculpture. I never realized how many colors were in this sculpture until people in my class started pointing them out. It was extremely intimidating. In this painting I used a canvas board and acrylic paints. The picture below was my first day in class painting this picture of a sculpture. I spread out when I paint.....I leave my brushes to the left of me and my acrylic paints to the right of me along with everything else (napkins, spray water bottle, water cup, etc.).

Like I had mentioned before....I think I used every color in the rainbow to make this painting....reds, oranges, purple, blue, violet, etc. I REALLY struggled with this painting. There were SEVERAL times where I just wanted to give up and do something else. It was a really tough painting.....
The boobies were especially hard to paint...LOL!! But, overall, I'm EXTREMELY happy with this painting.....
So I would say, it was fun in the beginning, hard in the middle of this process, and in the end I WAS REALLY happy with the outcome of this picture!! Thanks to my supportive painting instructor!! Sorry about the fuzziness of some of these pictures....I need a new camera....

This picture above pulls out tons of colors that I used. I would say this is as close to what the picture looks like in person.....my camera doesn't do much justice for my pictures....I tried getting the glare out for a clearer pic....

VOILA!!! What do you think?!! BE HONEST!!! Honesty hurts, but I appreciate it more...LOL!! The picture above is what I used to guide me in my painting. I can't wait for my next project!!
