Screw You Back Pain!

Boy! Oh boy! Oh boy! I hurt my back yesterday! Can you believe it? I was bending over to pick up laundry from the laundry basket and I felt my lower back crack. As soon as it cracked, I felt the nerve pain from my lower back (maybe sciatica) shoot all the way down to both of my legs and I buckled down to the floor. I crawled from my hallway to the living room and I've been sitting or laying down since then. I've managed to walk when I really need to, but it's been tough.
I already know what to do (ice pack, pain meds...ibuprofen, rest, blah, blah, blah), except I'm pretty frustrated with it because that means that I won't be going to the gym anytime soon. Not cool dude. I'll have to figure out what I can do till' then. I'm listening to my body. I don't want to make it worse than it already is.

For now, I'll just keep wearing workout clothes. It's been four years since I've had my back go out on me. FOUR YEARS! The doctor said exercising and strengthening my back would help heal my back and here I am. Injured. I've managed to go to the gym at least 3-4 days per week. It can't be because my back is weak. Ive had this problem since I was 18 years old when I was 115 pounds. I'm just getting old. I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow. I might have to start seeing a physical therapist again soon. UGH! WHY ME?! Now I really need to look into getting back into yoga. I heard  that there are studies done that proves that yoga prevents back pain/injuries. I better take it serious this time.
The good news is that I've lost a total of 10 pounds since I started exercising in November 2012. It's coming off slow....that's why I'm a bit disappointed with my situation. I'm finally losing weight and I'm facing a challenge that I plan on beating soon and continuing with my health journey. There's more to it than that and I hope to write more about it within the next month.

I have to add that I am so blessed to have my husband and my kids by my side. They have been so supportive during my time of need. I feel like I should pretend that I'm injured when I'm really not injured. LOL.  Seriously. ALL THE TIME. I'm LOVIN' the time and attention that they are giving me. EATING IT UP!!!

Any tips or advice out there for me?

  1. Ouch! I can relate to the pain that you felt! You really have to take care of your health and never ignore the back pain that you experienced. Anyway, you should consider getting some inversion therapy to ease the back pain that you’re feeling.
