Six Family Friendly Places to Visit While You're in Las Vegas. {Photo Heavy}

I'm a bit behind, but I figured I'd catch up and tell you what's been going on. None of the boring stuff though (I hope). Maybe I'll start with our 14th year wedding anniversary that happened back in July. It was so much fun! I'd call it a family trip more than anything. Who knew there were so many things to do with the kids in Vegas?
1. Ethel M. Chocolates

We started our visit by going to Ethel M. Chocolates. It's a small chocolate factory in Henderson, Nevada. Not too far from the Las Vegas Strip. They had videos and huge see through windows so the kids could see the factory workers making different types of chocolates.
At the end of our mini tour they gave one piece of chocolate to every person that walked through the factory.  My oldest is addicted to chocolate. His lips prove it. LOL.

They were so tired from the drive, but they were happy to be touring the chocolate factory.
After we were done with our visit we drove straight to our hotel.
We stayed at the Stratosphere Hotel and Casino. Check out our view! They had tons of construction going on and the weather was a bit gloomy, but we didn't let that stop us from having fun! Believe it or not...it was over 100 degrees that day.
What we loved about our room was being able to watch  the Sky Jumpers go by our window. They had the television set up so we could see when someone was jumping. As soon as we saw a jumper we ran straight to the window to watch them fall!
When we were done resting we had dinner at the Hooters Hotel and Casino.
After dinner we walked around Vegas and enjoyed the lights. There's so much to see in Vegas.
2. Southern Nevada Zoological and Botanical Park

The following day we took the kids to the Southern Nevada Zoological and Botanical Park a.k.a The Las Vegas Zoo. Who knew that a zoo existed in Vegas?

The zoo is really small, but it's REALLY cute. It's pretty inexpensive too. $9.00 for adults and $7.00 for kids. If you go on their website, you can find a coupon for $2.00 off a child's admission with a paying adult ticket.
The funnest part was feeding the pigeons. The workers don't like tourist to feed the pigeons. (we found that out after the fact) because they're a nuisance to the zoo, but they were so friendly. The kids got a kick out of it.

Overall, it was a fun place for the kids. They saw different types of animals. They were able to feed some of the animals and really get involved. Happy Kids=Happy Momma.
3. Siegfried and Roy's Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat

After we left the Las Vegas Zoo we decided to go to Siegfried & Roy's Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat .

We saw white lions, white tigers, panthers, leopards, and a family of Bottlenose Dolphins
The kids had fun, but in all honesty it was pricey and really small. Maybe it was because it was SOOO HOT that day. But I think the kids had a better time at the zoo.
There's not much interaction with the animals unless you pay over $500 per person to be a trainer for the day.
4. Stratosphere Tower Observation Deck

When we were done with our visit we decided to go up to the Stratosphere Tower Observation Deck.
It's free when you're a guest staying at the hotel. If you ever have a chance to visit, I would definitely go!
The view is AMAZING. You get a 360 degree view of Las Vegas. Beware to those of you afraid of heights. I'm not afraid of heights, but I am afraid of falling. LOL. My palms were sweating a bit.
Unfortunately, we never went on the rides. The lines were too long. Especially when you have kids with you. Maybe next time. They look like fun!
5. Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas

Next stop: Fremont Street
If you've never been there. YOU HAVE TO GO! You will be amazed at all the things that you will see out there.

My next mission is to go zip lining down fremont street.
6. M&M World

On our final day in Vegas, we took the kids to M&M World. They had an amazing time picking out their M&M's and browsing at all the colorful things around them. Four floors of M&M's! They even have a 3D movie you can watch. Unfortunately, it was over crowded. Something else for us to do on our next visit. We'll be going back in December!
Do you have a special place you visit when you go to Vegas? Any recommendations on places for us to go to on our next family trip?

  2. This is a great post! My son has been wanting to go to Las Vegas and I was hesitant because I wasn't sure it was a great choice for a family vacation but it looks like I was way off. We will definitely be looking into this again. Thanks so much for sharing!
