One Tequila, Two Tequila, Three Tequila, More!!!

Did you know that there are several types and brands of tequila that exist in this world? I never really thought about it until I had the opportunity to sample them at The Taste of Mexico held in the beautiful Cathedral of Saint Vibiana in Los Angeles, Ca.
A HUGE thanks to Avocados from Mexico, I was honored and thrilled to be a part of an event that fulfilled a huge part of my Latin culture. The Taste of Mexico definitely gave me the experience I was looking for. I was involved in a culture that involved several parts of Mexico.
After we were so kindly greeted by Natalia Arias from Avocados from Mexico. Me and my hubby walked into the room and it was filled with so many vendors displaying different types of drinks, food, and desserts. We were overwhelmed and had no idea where to start. So many choices!
The deserts from La Monarco Bakery were beautifully presented. So many choices I didn't know where to start. Everything looked so good. Pan Dulce, flan, galletas...mmmmmmm...
We decided we would wait to have desert until after we were done sampling all the good food offered by Frida Mexican Cuisine, La Casita Mexicana, and Restaurante Guelaguetza. The lines were long, but well worth the wait! We decided to start with Frida mexican Cuisine...
Ceviche, Taquitos, Tacos de Carne Asada...
The presentation was beautiful and the food was sooo good...
Hubby was having a good time. I tried to get him to smile, but he wouldn't budge for this one. Maybe he was hungry. LOL! Don't mess with a man when he's hungry! Let alone EATING!
Still serious! Hello! Hot Latina woman next to you! LMAO! Maybe it's a good thing he's not smiling. :p
Check out our entertainment! Mariachi Music and dance performances by regional troupes from Oaxaca.
I have to admit. I was a little tipsy in this shot. I had taken a few shots of tequila on an empty stomach. Big NO NO. I couldn't believe how smooth some of these tequilas were. Almost like drinking water. I was thirsty! LOL. Oh! And I wasn't stealing the Tabasco and putting them in my purse. They were given to me from the Tabasco girls. Hehe.
The food helped and it was delicious! I LOVE tacos!! I told my hubby that he would have to test the alcoholic drinks out. I wanted to remember the night! He had no complaints. I had a few casual drinks, but nothing to knock me off my toes. Frida Mexican Cuisine would definitely be a place I'd go to!
More samples!  Spicy Tabasco!
 One Tequila...
 Two Tequila...
 Three tequila...
More! Hubby was finally smiling! We were having fun! Not only did they have tequila. They had scotch too!
After sampling a few more tequilas we headed over to try food from Restaurante Guelaguetza Authentic Comida Oaxaquena. I have to say something about this place. It is DEFINITELY authentic. A foodies DREAM.
Know what this is? Take a close look. I mean REALLY close. It is a cricket tostada! Yes, crickets! Did I try it? YES! But I only took one bite and spit it out! LOL. My husband LOVED it! Go figure! He hates onions, but he can handle eating crickets. Overall, the food from Restaurante Guelaguetza is good for those willing to try something new. It is different from what I'm used to. I don't mind trying something new at least once. Makes life a little more interesting.
Look who else attended this festive event! Veronica from Cid's Style File and Monique from Blogs By Latinas and Curves and Chaos! It was nice seeing them and catching up. It's always nice to meet and make new friends!
Recognize this actress? Lupe Ontiveros is most known for her acting in films such as Selena, Real Woman Have Curves, and Our Family Wedding.
We decided to save the best for last and finished our dinner by trying food from La Casita Mexicana.
La Casita Mexicana served so many different types of Mexican cheese, guacamole, and tamales. The variety was delicious. Look at the guacamole! I wanted to take it home and save it for leftovers! I could make so many dishes using guacamole! Yum!!!
The night was coming to an end and we finished off with desert. Look at all the wonderful pastries.
I grew up with most of this food. It brought me back to my childhood. It reminded me of all the food that my mom used to cook when I was little. It was such a fun night with my hubby!
A Special THANK YOU to Avocados from Mexico for making The Taste of Mexico possible!

What do you think about this event? Would you ever go? How about those cricket tacos? Would you ever try them?
