The Economy and The DMV

Now that the economy has gone from bad to worse, we all have to deal with more crap. One of the biggest problems that has happened are cutbacks. People are getting layed off and days are getting cut short. For example, if people normally work Monday through Friday...now they're working Monday through Thursday. And if you're lucky, you might work half fridays or every other friday. This is all without compansation/pay. But, I never thought how much it would affect the daily person looking for a certain service.

Just the other day I was at the DMV with my two kids. What was I thinking?! I've never seen the line sooo long. Never. I had to wait for two hours just to pay for a registration renewal and I felt so bad for the other moms that were there. It was a nightmare trying to entertain the kids. There were hardly any seats available and they made us wait outside in the cold before we could even sit down because of the seating problems.

This is the line I had to wait in at the DMV. It wraps around to the front. We couldn't go in until there were seats available. It was cold outside and the lines were moving so slow.

There should be an alternative to shortening days at any government office. There are just too many people that need those types of services. It won't help anyone. It's just going to hurt more people that would normally use these services on the weekends. Yes, I could have made an appointment, but it was one of those things that had to get done a.s.a.p. I guess it's just one of those things we're going to have to wait out and hope and pray that it changes for the best.
